April Favorites 2016 and An Introduction to Mental Health Awareness Month 2016

I feel like it has been forever since I have done a monthly favorites post. Well it is the end of April (okay, so its May 2nd, but close enough!) and I thought I would talk about what products I have been loving recently. Also, May is Mental Health Awareness Month (and obviously that is a favorite to me so it fits) so also in this post I am going to make some opening comments and talk about what I plan to do this month.Beauty

Lush Cup O’ Coffee Face and Body Mask

This product makes me very happy and makes my skin very smooth. I got a small jar with a Lush haul I did in December and I still have a fair amount despite the fact that I use it regularly. It really does a great job of exfoliating my face and making it feel fresh.

Colourpop Satin Lippies

I caved and made my first Colourpop a few months ago and one of the products that I bought was their new Satin Lip product. In my honest opinion, it is more matte than I thought it would be but not matte to the point of being drying. Biggest pro of this product? It STAYS. It has lasted me through eating, drinking, seeing the Who in concert and more. The color doesn’t fade as badly as other lip products I have used before. However, I do use Colourpop’s Lippie Primer before applying it. Which brings my to my next favorite

Colourpop Lippie Primer

This product has changed by life. I have always had the issue of lip products settling into the fine lines of my lips. However, when I use this primer, I never have that issue. It is also ridiculously affordable so I definitely recommend it.

This is Acting by Sia

Sia is one of my favorite singers of all time and her new album is just fantastic. There is such a good variety of styles ranging from music you would dance to in a club to really gorgeous ballads. I definitely recommend listening to it (and it’s on Spotify if you have that!)

Near East Whole Grain Brown Rice

I love rice. I used to be a huge fan of Rice-a-Roni until I had an unfortunate allergic reaction because of the soy protein isolate that is in it. So when I was looking for a replacement, I found Near East. They make a lot of variations, but I like this one the best. My favorite part about it is that if I am the only one eating it, it can last three or more meals, so it is great for meal prepping.

Yogi Throat Comfort Tea

A few weeks ago, I battled one of the worst sore throats I had ever had. I also had an audition last week and needed my voice to be at its best ability. Throat Comfort tea was never my favorite when I was in high school, but I have grown accustomed to the taste of it and it really is amazing at making your throat feel better.

Marvel’s Avengers Age of Ultron

Yes, I know I am late to this party, but I finally watched Age of Ultron and it was fantastic. It really delved into a lot of backstories. The cinematography was beautiful. The orchestrations were great. The movie had parts that were really funny and parts that were moving. If you like Marvel at all and you haven’t seen this, then go do it.

Well, I think that is all of my favorites for the month so let’s jump into May. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a strong advocate for mental health and it is actually the platform I promote in the Miss America Organization. This month, I have a few goals. I want to make a blog post at least once a week addressing various mental health topics, getting input from friends that I can include in my writing. I am going to continue my “What’s on My Mind Wednesday” series, and that will most likely jump between mental health related topics and non mental health related topics.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my favorites for this month and I hope to see you stopping by more often!
